A 30-year-old Chinese national was found dead in an apparent drowning incident in Panglao on Monday afternoon.
Guan Rong Fu who was believed to have been snorkeling before he died was found floating in waters off Barangay Tangnan in Panglao at past 2 p.m., said Master Sgt. Manuel Rabanal of the Panglao Police Station.
According to Rabanal, Guan was found across the Molave Cliff Diving Resort by one Jose Jumaran who immediately alerted the personnel of the resort.
An employee of the Molave Resort administered CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) but Guan was unresponsive prompting them to alert the authorities.
Guan was then rushed to the Borja Hospital in Tagbilaran City on board an ambulance of the Panglao local government unit.
He however was declared dead on arrival.
Rabanal said that Guan may have not been immediately spotted when he was drowning as he was snorkeling in a secluded area across a cliff.
Initial reports indicated that Guan died of drowning.
Rabanal however noted that they have to follow up on the post-mortem results before they could officially rule out foul play. (A. Doydora)
