Some countries today including the Philippines are in the heat of election campaigns. This time our choicesare ample, but some candidates drew phenomenal responses from people.
What is known as the Millennial Generation according to researchers, who were born from 1980 to 2000, are making today their undeniable voice felt.
They may now be the largest generation of young voters in various countries of the world, however some candidates are struggling to connect to them.
What matters to the millennial, the issues on the hearts of the young people became a stumbling block to some candidates.
To reach out the young people, a candidate’s platform message must speak to their issues. The character for this generation are drawn to candidates who have realistic causes, they are repelled with indecisive types who do not take a stand on certain issues, and they want jobs.
Probably, due to the global economic crisis of today, they have a favorable view of socialism, the democratic control in economic production and social ownership, and political principles and programs that aim at their concern.
Presidential contenders have to meet these young voters where they are – online. The media has made the information really easy to get to them andthey are really motivated.
This generation’s possible power is unquestionable.
