The Tagbilaran City local government unit on Monday turned over P1.5 million worth of equipment and vehicles to the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) as part of efforts to boost security in the province’s capital.

Mayor John Geesnell Yap II who vowed to extend “101” percent support to the local police force led the turnover ceremony at the TCPS together with police chief Lt. Col. Christopher Navida.

“Here in Tagbilaran City, we are 101 [percent] fully supporting our Tagbilaran City PNP, nakahibaw ta unsa ang mga kinahilanglanon together with Councilor Ondoy Borja kay parehas man tang hilig og shooting,” said Yap.

The city government turned over two motorcycles, 7,500 rounds of 9mm bullets, 2,500 rounds of 5.56mm bullets, magazines, a Mavic air drone, and office equipment including two laptops and nine computer sets.

Yap also acknowledged Navida’s efforts in imparting to the LGU their needs for them to improve their operations.

According to Yap, the LGU is also set to donate a patrol car to the TCPS which will be funded through a cash grant earned by Tagbilaran City by winning the Seal of Good Local Governance last month.

Meanwhile, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go assured Yap that he will be extending support for Tagbilaran City’s security efforts.

Yap is a known staunch ally of Go, who was earlier dubbed an adopted son of Tagbilaran City.

“Didto ko sa Davao City, nagkuyog mi ni Senator Bong Go, unya naabtan mi’g alas 3 sa kadlawon nagsige lang og estorya, usa sa iyang gitugon na og naay problema sa atong kapulisan pahibaw-on lang siya kay mo support g’yud siya sa kapulisan especially Tagbilaran City,” he said.

Navida for his part thanked the city government. He said that the new equipment and vehicles will help in boosting the TCPS’ conduct of anti-crime operations and in maintaining peace and order. (RT)
