A man tagged as high-value target in the police’s anti-drug drive was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Thursday night, less than two months after he was released from jail through the Supreme Court-mandated plea bargaining framework.

Suspect Roger Laway, a former member of the defunct City Monitoring Team (CMT), an anti-crime civilian task force formed by former mayor Dan Lim during his stint as chief executive, was allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P204,000.

In a report, police said that Laway sold shabu worth P500 to a poseur-buyer leading to his immediate apprehension during the operation near his residence in Barangay Poblacion II.

According to Lt. Rodante Sanchez of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, Laway was placed under a month-long surveillance prior to the arrest.

Laway was released from jail in August and shortly after allegedly resumed involvement in the illegal drug trade.

He was arrested in 2015 also for drug charges.

Authorities said that Laway is now detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station lock-up facility and is set to be charged with sale and possession of illegal drugs. (WM)
