Another lending firm collector has fallen prey to armed robbers in the Second District of Bohol.

Corporal Randy Tuyor of the Ubay Police Station said that victim Romualdo Macua, 46, a resident of Bien Unido town and a collector for Talibon-based Value Credit Corp., was robbed by two still unidentified men at past 3 p.m. on Monday.

Macua was driving his motorcycle and had just finished collecting money from clients in Alicia when he was accosted by the motorcycle-riding suspects along a secluded area of a barangay road in San Francisco, Ubay.

One of the robbers held Macua at gunpoint forcing the victim to hand over his collection money which was worth P6,000.

“Duha ka riding suspects, nag-wear og bonnet unya ni-block sa iyang agianan. Ang backrider minaog sa motorsiklo unya ningtion og armas sa collector,” Tuyor said.

The robbers then fled towards Barangay Boyles of the town where there are several small roads which they may have taken to avoid being trailed.

Meanwhile, investigators have yet to determine if the robbery was perpetrated by members of the notorious Torregosa Robbery Group which has been noted to have been operating in the province’s Second District.

The Ubay Police Station was still coordinating with other police stations in the district to verify if the suspects were part of the robbery group or were involved in any of the other robbery cases in other municipalities.

Police have reported a spate of robberies conducted in other towns of the district in the past months which were allegedly carried out by the Torregosa Robbery Group whose alleged leader Virgelio Torregosa was arrested in Getafe last week.

An alleged member of the group, Laurencio Racal, Jr. was also shot dead on Sunday afternoon by still unidentified assailants at a cockpit arena also in Getafe.

Captain Benicer Tamboboy, chief of the Getafe Police Station, had earlier noted that Torregosa’s apprehension was seen to make a dent on the robbery group’s operation and possibly cripple it but not totally stop it with his cohorts still at large.

“Naay posibilidad na mo-minus pero dili ta mag-expect na mohunong g’yud ni kay naa pay laing mga membro sa grupo na padayon natong gipangita,” he said, adding that members of Torregosa’s group have been traced to be from various towns outside Getafe. (A. Doydora)
