The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday night arrested a suspected human trafficker, who has long operated in Tagbilaran City, and rescued four women who were part of her alleged prostitution operation.

According NBI investigator Atty. Glenn Damasing, the alleged pimp, Rosalina “Mikay” Angalot, will be charged with qualified trafficking on Wednesday afternoon.

She was arrested by NBI agents in a sting operation at a resort along Graham Avenue in Tagbilaran City at about 8 p.m.

“Nagpa-ila mi na tourist van driver na naa miy mga foreigner na nangita’g mga babaye and then ingon siya na makahtag siya og unom kabuok, pilian lang kuno,” said Damasing.

Angalot allegedly offered the women’s services for P6,000 each.

Meanwhile, the four rescued women who were living in Tagbilaran City and aged between 26 and 39 were turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development for assistance.

Damasing said that the operation stemmed from a complaint made by a mother of a missing 15-year-old girl who the NBI initially suspected of having been taken in by a prostitution ring.

The search for the girl eventually led authorities to Angalot, but the teenager was not found to have been part of her operation.

According to Damasing, Angalot has long been operating out of Tagbilaran City and Guindulman but she was difficult to trace and entrap as she only dealt with trusted contacts.

“Nag-conduct mi og series of surveillance unya naa miy nakuha na trusted person niya so gihatag iyang number then na-confirm namo na bugaw g’yud ni siya,” he said.

Angalot, meanwhile, denied the human trafficking allegation.

She is now detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station pending the filing of charges against her as NBI Bohol does not have a lock-up facility for women. (with WM)
