A 32-year-old man was critically shot in Ubay town by motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem in Ubay town on Sunday night.
Victim Armando Casicas of Barangay Bongbong, Ubay who was shot in the head was still fighting for his life as of Monday, said Corporal Randy Tuyor of the Ubay Police Station.
According to Tuyor, the motorcycle’s passenger alighted from the vehicle and shot Casicas, who was sitting at a roadside waiting shed in Barangay San Pascual, once from point-blank range at around 8 p.m.
“Sa dunngan siya na-igo, ang exit wound diri sa mata dapit,” he said, noting that Casicas was shot from the side.
Both suspects who had their faces covered with cloth immediately fled towards an unknown direction.
Casicas was rushed to a hospital in Ubay but was later transferred to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
Meanwhile, police continued their investigation to identify and locate the assailants. They have also yet to establish a motive behind the gun attack.
However, Tuyor noted that Casicas was arrested in 2014 for a drug charge and was released earlier this year after entering into a plea bargaining deal.
Tuyor said that Casicas has also been known to pick fights when under the influence of Alcohol. (A. Doydora)
