Two women, one from the University of the Philippines and another from University of San Carlos (USC-Cebu), took the first two slots in the 2015 Bar Examinations, which produced 1,731 new lawyers for the country.
The topnotchers are: Rachelle Angelie Miranda of UP (87.4%) and Athena Plaza of USC Â (87.25%).
Associate Justice Teresita Leonardo de Castro, chair of the 2015 Bar Exams held Nov. 8, 15, 22 and 29 at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila, announced the results at a briefing shortly after the results were posted Tuesday at the Supreme Court grounds.
The rest of those who made Top 10 after Miranda and Plaza are: 3. Aguilar, Jayson of UP (86.75%), 4. Arceo, Reginald of Ateneo (86.7%), 5. Mandy Therese Anderson of Ateneo (86.15%), 6. Hernandez, Giselle of UP (86.10%), 7. Bustamante, Daniel of San Beda College (85.9%), Tied for 8. Jecca Jacildo of University of San Carlos, Soraya Laut of Xavier University and Jericho Tiu of Ateneo De Manila (85.85%), 9. Jedd Brian Hernandez of UP ( 85.8%), Tied for 10. Ronel Buenaventura of Bulacan State University and Lara Carmela Fernando of San Beda College Manila ( 85.7%).
Of the 6,605 examinees, a total of 1,731 passed. The passing grade was 75 percent, and “no adjustments were made,” said de Castro.
