Former Danao Mayor and incumbent Vice Mayor Louis Thomas Redulla Gonzaga succumbed to cardiac arrest this morning, May 6, 2016, 11:30 at the Ramiro Community Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
Gonzaga, 46 yrs. old was rushed to the Ramiro Hospital on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 after he was found unconscious on the floor of his bedroom in Penaflor St., Tagbilaran City.
Second District Congressman Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado told DYRD Balita this afternoon, May 6, 2016 that Gonzaga, who was running unopposed as mayor in Danao will be substituted by her mother, incumbent mayor Natividad Gonzaga.
Section 19 of Commission on Elections Resolution No. 9984 allows substitution in case of a candidate’s death or disqualification by final judgement and the substitute may file a Certificate of Candidacy (COC) up to mid-day of election day, provided that the substitute and the substituted have the same surnames.
Gonzaga was one of the leading political figures of the Bohol United Opposition backing United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) presidential candidate Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The three term Mayor who placed Danao, a town 95 kilometers from Tagbilaran City in the tourism map with the LGU initiated Danao Adventure Park will be interred at the family mausoleum in Cebu City after the May 9, 2016 elections.
Gonzaga is survived by his two daughters, mother, Mayor Natividad Gonzaga and his father Engr. Asisclo Gonzaga, former Chief Operations Officer of the defunct National Power Corporation and former Chief Executive Officer of the National Transmission Corporation (TRANSCO), a brother and a sister.(Chito M.
