The 72-year old Davao City mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte has been voted new Philippine president based on  (more than 90%) of the PPCRV (Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting)  monitor with  15,219,571 votes.

Although it is the Comelec tally that serves as the official reference of winners , the PPCRV receives the same  Comelec results through its server- one among the seven who receives the same.

Running seconds is LP bet Mar Roxas (9,164,292 Votes) followed by (Ind) senator Grace Poe   ( 8,528,577 votes)  , UNA bet vice president Jojo Binay ( 5,056,862 votes) and senator Miriam Santiago ( 1,365,626 votes). The ranking tallies with the “exit polls” conducted by SWS (Social Weather Station ) .

According to pollsters, voters constituting 18% of total only decided yesterday (election day)  who to vote for -signifying the effect of the “bandwagon effect” of the surveys showing Duterte running away in the race.

Duterte relied on lingual affinity to dominate (highly) Mindanao and (moderately) the Visayas and showed strength in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon- places he concentrated visiting in the homestretch, His last SWS ranking was only at 33% of voter preference.

DUTERTE OFFERS HEALING AND FRIENDSHIP

Recognizing the certainty of victory, Duterte offered a “period of healing and friendship” to his rivals. The pro-Federalism leader went and wept at his parents’ grave after the landslide victory.

Duterte’s platform of eradicating criminality and corruption in six months resonated well with the people’s clamor for radical change. Others feared massive bloodletting and human right violations in Digong’s wake.

Digong revealed he will not stay in Malacanang because ” it is a symbol of oppression”.

Senator Poe was first to concede midnight. Mar Roxas is calling a press conference at 10 am this morning .

He came from nowhere and was in the Top 10 in the last survey -but his topping the race was unexpected. People are already talking of at least a VP run in 2022 with his tremendous showing.
