Maribojoc Mayor Leoncio Evasco Jr., campaign manager of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, has not yet been officially offered a post in the incoming administration.

The pronouncement which Evasco made himself came after reports of the Maribojoc mayor being primed to join Duterte’s cabinet, particularly as secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government surfaced.

However, Evasco made it clear that he will be turning down any cabinet membership offer from Duterte, citing being unprepared to take on such responsibility as reason for the refusal.

He will also decline even if offered the position of executive secretary, he added.

Following reports of Evasco’s impending refusal, Atty. Salvador Medialdea, Duterte’s personal lawyer assumed the post of executive secretary.

Evasco said that he wishes to rest after the long and grueling campaign trail of Mayor Duterte. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
