Tzu Chi Foundation-Bohol accommodated a total of 555 eye patients from different municipalities of the province during the eye surgical mission screening in Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City on June 1 conducted in coordination with the Philippine Gift of Life Foundation and Ramiro Community Hospital.

The screening procedure is to assess the suitability of the patients for the eye surgical scheduled this weekend, June 11–12, at Ramiro Community Hospital.

The eye surgical mission is one of the free services provided among other medical interventions and surgical services.

This is in line with Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s Mission of Medicine attending the needy and alleviating the crisis faced by the poor—a sight-saving program courtesy of Tzu Chi Foundation Bohol Operations in coordination with the Philippine Gift of Life Institution and Ramiro Community Hospital that is also supported by the provincial government of Bohol, City of Tagbilaran, Bohol Medical Care Institute (BMCI), Department of Health (DOH) and Tagbilaran City Rotary Club.

With the 555 patients to be assisted, the act of volunteerism served as bridge for the patients and the doctors.

The nature of a person’s goodness influenced on doing good deeds towards other people, 11 volunteers with a helping hand from the Rotaract Club, nine Tzu Chi scholars, 37 Tzu Chi Bohol volunteers and eight  volunteers from Philippine Gift of Life had served with kindness and compassion.(press release from Tzu Chi Foundation-Bohol)
