The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that 119,488 students were listed as beneficiaries of the educational component of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) otherwise known as the Conditional Cash Transfer.

The 4Ps education component aims to lift poor households out of poverty, which in Bohol now covers 59,960 family beneficiaries.

The student recipients are enrolled in the kindergarten, elementary and secondary levels.

Elementary students are provided P3,000 per school year, which in the Philippines’ case, is 10 months.

Those in the secondary level are allotted P5,000.

The educational component of the 4P’s can be availed by qualified families by up to three children as long as they comply with certain conditions including enrolling their children in school with at least 85% of class attendance per month.

Students under the education component who break the conditions of the program are given three warnings and the DSWD will look into the reasons for the violations before they are taken off the list.

The 4Ps is the largest social assistance program that offers cash to poor family-beneficiaries that have children aged zero to 14 years and can prove that the health and educational needs of their children are given top priority. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Rey Tutas)
