German Ambassador His Excellency Thomas Ossowski arrived in Bohol today, April 13, for a two-day visit which aims to strengthen ties between Germany and the Province of Bohol.
Gov. Edgar Chatto welcomed Amb. Ossowski at the Tagbilaran City Airport and proceeded to the People’s Mansion for a series of dialogue and viewing of exhibits of partnership projects with the German Government.
During the discussions, the German ambassador is open to strengthen friendship and pursue further cooperation of Germany and Bohol in the field of disaster risk reduction and management and climate change adaptation. He said that Germany is working with the Philippines on climate change mitigation and adaptation and Bohol’s show of commitment to this line will certainly provide opportunities for partnership programs and projects in this field.
He also shared United Nations member states are gathering in Paris to reach an international agreement to limit the heating of the earth.
Ossowski listened to a presentation of Germany-Bohol cooperation which paved the way for major development plans in Bohol such as the Bohol Water and Sanitation Program, and the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan, among others, including technical assistance in interventions in trade and industry, child labor, livelihood, and coastal resource management.
The ambassador is visiting project sites and meeting with the Geman community during his first visit here in the province.
Gov. Edgar Chatto was joined by provincial officials as well as government agencies and non-government organizations in partnership projects with the German Government in the welcome reception and the giving of the Symbolic Key of the Province of Bohol to Ambassabor Ossowski. (EDCOM)
