A man died after his motorcycle was accidentally hit by a car along a national road in Alicia town on Sunday night.

Chief Master Sgt. Gregoria Aton of the Alicia Police Station said the fatality identified as Arie Ayuban, 44, of Barangay Untaga, Alciai died on the spot due to severe head injuries.

Based on the police’s initial probe, Ayuban was sideswiped by a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by one Jail Officer 1 Raul Orqueza of Talibon town at the opposite lane.

Ayuban allegedly crossed over to Arqueza’s lane while trying to overtake another vehicle along a sharp turn in Barangay Progreso.

“Nikawat ning motor kay padulong mo overtake og laing four wheels, ni overtake siya sa no-overtaking na lane na likuon, mao na sideswipe siya,” said Aton.

Orqueza tried to evade the incoming Ayuban but still partly hit the motorcycle which was travelling at high speed.

“Overtake man so naa gyud pud toy taas na speed, gilubag kay wa may mo overtake na hinay,” said Aton.

Following the impact, Ayuban who was not wearing a helmet was thrown off his motorcycle leading to multiple injuries to his body and head.

Meanwhile, Orqueza was placed under police custody pending the decision of Ayuban’s family to whether or not file charges. (A. Doydora)
