An explosive document containing names of local government officials and police officers is now in the process of being vetted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Bohol.

“We are scrutinizing the names revealed by Barok especially those involving local government officials and police officers implicated in the lucrative drug business”, said Atty. Rennan Augustus, agent-in-charge of NBI-Bohol field office, in an interview with DYRD Balita.

When asked if the names as given by alleged Cebu drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro were shared with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Oliva explained that the list will be validated before its release to concerned government agencies.

Other than the ongoing vetting of the names in the so called drug list of coddlers, the NBI is deep into investigation of the supply chain of drugs entering Bohol.

“We are bent on disrupting the supply chain to weaken their ability to push their supply and deny the market of their illegal drugs”, explained Oliva.

Oliva also told “Inyong Alagad” that the surrender of Alvaro was conditional on the quality of information he would provide the NBI in return for his safety.

Meanwhile, the local NBI office received P200,000.00 from Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano lll.

The Danao City government gave the cash award to express their appreciation for the efforts of NBI-Bohol in facilitating the surrender of Alvaro.

A resolution commending the NBI-Bohol was sponsored by Councilor Jojo Roble, chair of the Peace and Order Committee of the Danao City Sanggunniang Panlungsod.

Oliva said that the award money will be used to fund improvements in the NBI office especially the setting up of a detention facility.

The no. 1 alleged drug lord in Cebu province opted to surrender to the NBI for fear that he might be killed by police authorities.

The PNP and the NBI were hot on the trail of Alvaro that resulted in the killing of his associate Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz in a shoot-out with the police on June 17, 2016 in Las Pinas City.

Five days later, Barok surrendered to the NBI-Bohol.

Alvaro was immediately flown to Manila for further tactical interrogation and is now detained at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Cebu City.

Alvaro is also the prime suspect in the ambush slaying of Senior Inspector Jonas Tajanlangit, chief of the Poro Police Station in Camotes last April, 2016 and is facing charges for illegal possession of drugs and firearm. (Chito M. Visarra)
