Drug supply from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) is reaching the province according to the Bohol Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).
Previous reports have already indicated that the national penitentiary is a major source of drug transactions in the country, but Police Senior Inspector Jojit Mananguil, Bohol PIB chief, said that actual drug supply from the NBP in Muntinlupa is being sold in the province.
Mananguil urged the national government to stamp out illegal drug activities in the NBP, voicing out his concern to incoming President Rodrigo Duterte who has vowed to intensify the nation’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
The official also confirmed Duterte’s previous claim that illegal drugs are being manufactured inside the prison.
Managuil said that he had received threats from big syndicates inside NBP before and that other types of intimidation have been used by the criminals to keep the police from stopping operations of pushers who reportedly peddle drugs from the prison.
He revealed that the syndicates put a price on the head of police who go against peddlers of drugs from NBP, but noted that he has not given in to such threats.
Jade Delusa, one of the latest drug suspects to have been captured by the local police, was allegedly dealing drugs from the NBP, Mananguil said.
According to the authorities, the suspect’s operation in Tagbilaran City and neighboring towns was very big that Delusa was able to sell a kilo of shabu every month.
The PIB is already monitoring other drug dealers and suppliers in the province who reportedly get a portion of their supply from the NBP. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
