A drug suspect was slain on Monday evening after attempting to engage police officers in a shoot-out during a buy bust operation.

Declared dead on arrival by doctors of the Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay was Mario Ramos, a resident of Barangay Tapon, Ubay.

According to Police Senior Inspector Roland Desiree Lavisto, chief of the Philipppine National Police (PNP) Ubay Police Station who led the police team that Ramos pulled out a handgun and fired at the police poseur buyer after he suspected the buyer as an undercover cop.

But the police poseur buyer returned fire and hit Ramos in the chest who was brought to the hospital but reportedly expired on the way, according to the police report.

Senior Police Officer ll (SPO2) Roger Abad, investigator of the Ubay Police Station told The Chronicle that Ramos resisted arrest after a successful buy bust operation was conducted by police officers involving P600.00 worth of suspected shabu stuffed in 3 small packs.

Recovered by police officers from the body of Ramos were 3 small packs containing suspected shabu, a .45 caliber handgun with five live bullets.

Meanwhile, seven drug personalities voluntarily gave themselves up to the Ubay Police Station on Monday and confessed they were involved in the illegal drugs as users and pushers.

Out of fear for their lives, the seven self confessed drug personalities, two who admitted they were pushers and four identified themselves as users pledged to abandon their drug activities.

The seven who hails from Barangay Katarungan ll heeded the call of the police in Oplan Tukhang or tuktok hangyo.
