A number of police personnel in the province are being monitored by the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) due to their alleged involvement in drug activities.

In its intensified drive to clean up its ranks, the Bohol police included cops in their watch list, and is conducting investigations to back the allegations, said Supt. Ricky Delilis, BPPO public information officer.

However, Delilis did not elaborate on the number of policemen who are suspected to be involved in illegal drug activities and the cops’ designated stations.

The BPPO is gathering evidence and validating current information through the counterintelligence officer of the BPPO as the local police moves to verify if the alleged erring policemen are still involved in illegal drug activities.

Individual investigations will immediately be conducted once enough evidence will be gathered against the said police officers, Delilis added.

A cop with a rank of police officer 2 who tested positive for illegal drugs last week is now being investigated by the BPPO.

Delilis also noted that it is very likely that there are more members of the police force who are involved in the said illegal activities as it could be the explanation behind the perennial drug problem in the country.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility that chiefs of police in various towns who have not implemented anti-illegal drugs campaigns will be relieved from their posts depending on the decision of the new director of the Police Regional Office 7, Chief Supt. Noli Taliño. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
