After the promulgation of judgment, the Court cancelled Nielsen’s bail, even while his counsel filed a motion to post bail pending appeal, since bail is no longer a matter of right in the Court of Appeals.

The sexual abuses were committed in the years 2014-2015 in a resort in Doljo, Panglao, Bohol against two minor children (boys), then 14/16 years old.

In each of these 7 counts, Nielsen was meted an indeterminate penalty of eight (8) years and one (1) day of prision mayor, as minimum, to seventeen (17) years, four (4) months and one (1) day of reclusion temporal, as maximum.  He was further ordered to pay each victim P50,000 as civil indemnity and P50,000 for moral damages.

The cases were handled by private prosecutor lawyer Esther Gertrude D. Biliran.
