The municipality of Calapebested in the third to sixth class municipalities category in the 4th National Competitiveness Summit held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) the other day.
Calapetopped over 755 other municipalities throughout the country.
According to Calape ABC President Madelone Y. Rengel who represented Mayor Nelson N. Yu this year, the National Competitiveness Council Philippines is ranking over 1,300 local governments across the country on Economic, Dynamism, Government Efficiency and infrastructure.
Previous to the award, Calape was informed that it was qualified as one of the most competitive municipalities in the National Competitive Council’s Annual Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI).
In a statement, Mayor Yu said he is thankful for the award which he shares with his elder brother, Dr. Sulpicio N. Yu Jr. who was the previous Mayor of Calape and is now the incumbent Vice- Mayor.
He said the award serves as an inspiration to do more for and in the name of Public Service. (Nick Sendrijas)
