Today, millions of Filipinos here and the world over will be glued to their televisions sets to watch with bated breath boxing history unfold.
Manny Pacquiao will fight the undefeated Floyd Mayweather in what is touted to be the ultimate battle between two of the boxing greats of this generation.
After all the debates, ranging from self-proclaimed boxing experts to the most casual fan, everything comes down to this boxing match considered to determine who is the best boxer of this era.
But in the eye of many, including myself, there is nothing Manny Pacquiao needs to prove.
His place in boxing history has already been inscribed in stone as one of the best fighters to eve climb the ring.
But more than that, Manny Pacquiao looms larger compared to his opponent because of Manny’s attitude, demeanor, even outside the ring.
Manny Pacquiao remains humble and respectful even with his achievements in boxing.
To me, that makes Many Pacuiqao stand out even among the so-called boxing greats, Floyd Mayweather included.
Many Pacquiao has used his platform in the boxing area to proclaim the greatness of our Lord.
That is what makes Manny Pacquiao great.
Here is a man who has already attained that rare status in boxing never reached by any Filipino in history.
Yet he has endeared himself to millions of people around the world because of his down-to-earth demeanor.
To me win or lose against Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao has cemented his legacy as of the modern day Filipino heroes of recent history.
Nonetheless, we believe Many will defeat Floyd Mayweather.
We may no longer see another Manny Pacquiao in our generation.
We Filipinos have to savor these proud moments of a compatriot slugging it out against the world’s best.
We wish Manny the best, and hope he knocks out Floyd Mayweather.
