Members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Lila trooped to the Immaculate Concepcion Drug Testing Center in Tagbilaran City on Monday, July 25, 2016 and willingly submitted themselves to a urine drug test.

The SB took the drug test on the day President Duterte delivered his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa Main Building in Quezon City.

Led by Vice Mayor and SB Presiding Officer Atty. Arturo Piollo ll, the nine municipal councilors (kagawads) agreed to undergo the drug test as a collective act of transparency on the part of the SB.

The Vice Mayor and the nine SB members yielded negative for illegal drugs.

Lila Municipal Mayor Regina Salazar was unable to join the SB for the drug test because of a meeting of the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) which she was presiding.

But Salazar is prepared to submit herself to a drug test anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Piollo told DYRD Balita that more than five barangay officials gave themselves in joining the 364 drug users and pushers who turned in at the Lila Police Station heeding calls for their “surrender” through the PNP’s “Operation Tokhang”.

The members of the SB are Benjamin Caga-anan, Francis Liray, Gomer Balandra, Santos Lagria, Melchor Lapac, Ermaline Dahiroc, Frederick Raut, Samuel Namit and Association of Barangay Council President Esther Sebalda. (Chito Visarra and Rey Tutas)
