A deaf-mute student of a special education class in City Central School in Tagbilaran City hanged himself within the school’s premises and was found lifeless at dawn Wednesday, July 27, 2016.
The victim, 20-year-old Junrenz Cantutay from Pinamungajan, Cebu, was found lifeless right outside the school’s dormitory for the hearing impaired where he temporarily took up residence.
According to PO2 Max Bacalod, Tagbilaran police investigator, the victim hanged himself with a rope.
Cantutay’s classmates Renante Ajoc and Peter Ayuban first discovered the body which was hanging right outside their room located within the said living quarters.
Initial police investigation indicated that Cantutay had alluded to classmates that he was about to do something out of the ordinary. They, however, were unaware that he was intending to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, other classmates of the victim said that he had troubles with his girlfriend, which could have triggered the incident.
Members of the city police Scene of the Crime Operatives noted that there was no foul play involved in the incident declaring Cantutay’s death a suicide. (Allen Doydora and Willy Maestrado)
