Town government officials including mayors are being monitored by police operatives for suspected involvement in drug activities according to the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO).
Public information officer of the BPPO Supt. Ricky Delilis said that the local police force is currently gathering evidence against mayors and lower ranking officials who are purportedly linked to drug activities or engaging in the illegal trade.
Delilis, however, did not disclose the names of the drug suspects in government as police investigations are still ongoing.
The police official assured the public that he will not hesitate to reveal the suspects’ identities once concrete evidence are collected against them, as mistaken claims would tarnish both the BPPO and the alleged.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Bureau of Investigation offices in Bohol are also conducting monitoring operations against the town and barangay officials.
Delilis did not verify whether these Bohol officials are part of the list of narcotics-linked mayors whose identities will be revealed soon by President Rodrigo Duterte. (Allen Doydora)
