Expect some more fresh ideas for Bohol as its District of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) gets a new commander in Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Benjie Salmorin Quinisio.
A resident of Las Pinas City, but was born in Makati, Commander Quinisio takes over the post vacated by Lieutenant Junior Grade Robinson Madriaga, in the PCG regulated mandatory change of command to rotate their men in a span of time.
A Master in Management graduate, Commander Quinisio has to finish his Master in Arts in Maritime Education after finishing BS in Marine Transportation in 1998 from the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy.
A veteran of Personal Safety and Social Responsibility, Advanced Safety Courses, General Tanker Operations, Shore based Firefighting , Ship’s Restricted Radio Communications Operations Course, Rada Courses, Deck Watch keeping Course, Commander Quinisio also has Coast Guard Command and Staff Course, Coast Guard Sea Course and Coast Guard Officers Course tucked under his belt.
As to Marine and Maritime law enforcement, Commander Quinisio completed Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis, Marine Law Enforcement Course, joint sea Search and rescue exercise, ship maneuvering and handling, collision avoidance course, bridge teamwork ship stability improvement courses and helicopter shipboard operations.
A veteran too of shipboard operations, Commander Quinisio has had duty assignements on board BRP Kalinga, BRP Pampanga, BRP Batangas and BRP Limasawa in several capacities: from mess officer, to supply, deck, Investigations Officer to Deck and Engine room chiefs.
Himself assistant deputy chief of CG staff for education and training as well as staff intelligence officer, Quinisio also sat as TWG member for the Strategic Development Plan for the Philippine Coast Guard.
An awardee for the PCG Sea Service badge, PCG eligibility Award, two presidential citations, PCG Superior Achievement Medal, two Gawad sa Kaunlaran Medals, 4 PCG Merit Medal and Ribbons, Three Bronze Dolphin Medals, PCG Bronze Clam Awardee, PCG Civac and Relief and Rehab Ribbons, Commander Quinisio packs a long experience to make his Bohol stint another venue for innovation.
