A pharmacy and a boarding house in Tagbilaran City were hit on separate days by still unidentified burglars who carted away a large amount of cash and gadgets, said police.
In a report, the Tagbilaran City Police Office (TCPO) indicated that BYRO Pharma at the corner of Hontanosas Ext. and Bagong Lipunan in Barangay Poblacion 3 was broken into early on Monday.
Robert Olaer of BYRO Pharma told police that they lost around P80,000 in the alleged burglary.
According to Olaer who discovered the break-in, the office’s main door was forcibly opened and the cash which was placed in a cabinet was already missing on Monday morning.
Olaer immediately reported the incident to authorities.
Based on the initial probe of the TCPO’s theft and robbery section, BYRO Pharma has an installed closed-circuit television camera (CCTV).
However, it was defective and not functioning during the incident.
On Tuesday, another burglary was reported to police in Tagbilaran City.
This time, it was at the room of Rechie Sarnillo, 29, inside a boarding house in Barangay Dao.
According to Sarnillo, a computer technician at Cell Depot, it was his wife who discovered that their room was left in disarray while its doorknob was destroyed.
Several items including a black LENOVO tablet and an A606 LENOVO cellphone were allegedly stolen during the incident.
Policemen of the TCPO’s theft and robbery section were then tasked to investigate the burglary which was among a series of burglaries carried out in the city since Friday last week.
However, authorities have not yet indicated whether the burglaries were perpetrated by a single group or person. (Weli Maestrado)
