A total of 385 police personnel in Bohol were subjected to surprise drug testing during the visit of Regional Police Office 7 (PRO) director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas to the province on Friday.
Newly installed Bohol Provincial Police Office chief Sr. Supt. Julius Gornez gathered police officers from the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) and the BPPO in the guise of an assembly for Sinas’ visit at Camp Francisco Dagohoy.
While Sinas was making announcements, members of the Bohol police crime laboratory subjected the police officers, 74 from the TCPS and 311 from the BPPO, to drug testing.
According to Sinas, the initiative was part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) continued efforts to clear its ranks of illegal drug users.
Results of the test will be released after a few days.
Sinas was in Bohol to lead the commencement exercises for 12 police officers who completed 206 hours of training for scene of the crime operatives or SOCO.
He was accompanied by former BPPO director and now Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division chief Sr. Supt. Angeles Geñorga.
The PRO command officers also conducted rounds at several police stations to personally deliver instructions for the nearing midterm polls. (RT)
