Since 2007, at least one Imboy has been sitting at an elective post in Loay town. The political dynasty ended in 2019 after all three candidates from the family lost during the 2019 midterm polls on Monday.
The family’s matriarch, Rosemarie, was the mayor of Loay for three consecutive terms from 2007 to 2016. She was replaced by daughter Rochelle Brigitte Imboy-Albutazil who ran and won as mayor in 2016.
Rosemarie and outgoing Mayor Rochelle ran for mayor and vice mayor, respectively, in the 2019 polls and lost to now-mayor-elect Lahar Ayuban and vice mayor-elect Jan-Jan Cubarol.
Ayuban garnered 5,732 votes while Rosemarie got 4,888 votes.
Meanwhile, Rosemarie’s husband, outgoing Vice Mayor Brigido, failed to secure a seat in the town’s Sangguniang Bayan.
Based on data from the Comelec, Brigido was 11th in the municipal council race of Loay.
Brigido was once president of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Bohol and consequently an ex-officio Provincial Board member.
On Tuesday, Ayuban, Cubarol and the winning councilors were proclaimed.
Ayuban was once a Sangguniang Kabataan chairman and chief of staff of former vice governor Julius Herrera from 2007 to 2010. (R. Tutas)
