City marks 49th Charter Day today

City residents will pause and join today’s observance of the 49th Charter Day celebration which will also be a prelude to the city’s Golden Year Charter Day grand event next year.

Mayor John Geesnell Yap who is the 6th mayor since Tagbilaran was chartered as a city wayback in 1966 with the late Mayor Venancio Inting as the first city mayor.

Yap, the youngest city chief executive will deliver his second State of the City Address at the Bohol Cultural Center this morning. Continue reading

TAGBILARAN THROUGH THE YEARS

“Tagbilaran city born today.”

Thus, goes the banner headline of the Bohol Chronicle exactly forty nine years ago today, on July 1, 1966.

The story proceeds stating how simplicity marked the rites accompanying the birth of the capital city of Tagbilaran which was created by Republic Act 4660 and passed by the First Session of the sixth Congress. The law enacting the new metropolis was jointly authored by Rep. Natalio Castillo, Jose Zafra and Teodoro Galagar. The measure was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos on June 18, 1966. Bohol Police Head Reap Regional Awards

agustinThe  Philippine National Police nationwide  is  celebrating in the observance  of the 20th  Police Community Relations Month for the whole Month of July  2015  thru Presidential Proclamation No. 764 dated  January 2005 declaring  the  every July as PCR Month with this year’s theme:  “ Matibay na Ugnayan ng Mamamayan at Pulisya Simbolo ng Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran ng Sambayanan”.  The  Kick-off ceremony  will be held on Monday  June 29, 2015 @ 8:00 O’clock in the morning  at  Police Regional Office 7  quadrangle, Cebu City as well as  at the Bohol Police Provincial Office  coinciding  with the traditional Monday flag raising ceremony In a simple but fitting undertakings to give meaning to the celebration.
