A Boholana who graduated from the University of Mindanao (UM) – Davao City and three others who completed their academic degrees from local schools in Bohol were among the successful examinees who rounded up the ten highest places in the March 2016 Licensure Examinations for Teachers.

Topping the list in the elementary level was Rowena Miano Hingpit of UM-Davao City with a score of 90.60%.

Tied at 7th place were Maria Jessamae Canete Cenita and Vincent Daguplo Cuarteros, both from the Bohol Institute of Technology Talibon and Jagna campus with an identical 88.20%.

In the secondary level, Holy Name University graduate Hazel May Fiel Ignacio tied for 10th place with four others with a score of 89.00%.

Hingpit, Cenita and Cuarteros were part of the 12,128 elementary teachers out of 42,739 examinees or 28.38% who passed the L.E.T elementary level exams while in the L.E.T secondary level examination, Ignacio was part of the 18,810 secondary teachers out of 53,090 examinees or 35.43% who made it, according to the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT).

RA 7836 known as the Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994 requires all applicants for registration as professional teachers to undergo and pass a written examination to practice as a professional teacher in the Philippines. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Rey Tutas)
