An active law enforcer allegedly involved in illegal drug activities was shot dead while still wearing his police uniform during a buy-bust operation against him in Panglao on Thursday night.

The suspect, identified as PO3 Ermun Butil, a resident of Brgy. Napo Lawis, Alicia, was an active police officer of the Lila Municipal Police Station.

Butil allegedly pulled out his service firearm after suspecting that he was conducting a drug transaction with an undercover policeman.

According to a police report, the police operative was able to shoot and hit Butil first leading to the suspect’s instantaneous death.

The buy-bust was a joint operation involving members of the Provincial Public Safety Company – Special Weapons and Tactics Unit and the Panglao Tourist Police.
