The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 declared the suspect in the slay of Catmon, Cebu police chief Senior Insp. Alexander Nuñez, who was once assigned in Dauis and Loon, armed and dangerous and ordered the hastened finding of the alleged cop killer, “dead or alive.”

PRO 7 director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño urged suspect Jaime Jayson who allegedly gunned down Nuñez in Carmen, Cebu on Christmas Eve to surrender amid a manhunt against the alleged killer.

Taliño also called on the public to report information on the whereabouts of Jayson, 21, as the suspect remains at large.

Nuñez, husband of former DYRD newscaster PO3 Queen Brigitte Viernes Nuñez, was reportedly shot dead by Jayson after the policeman responded to a reported altercation among the suspect and his brothers.

Prior to the death of the policeman, one of the brothers identified as Carlito reportedly shot at Nuñez but missed prompting the police officer to shoot back and kill him.

Nuñez was reportedly on his way home on December 24 and was off duty when he responded to a domestic alarm among the Jayson brothers.

Three of the two suspects’ brothers Camilo, Carlo and Ricardo had also been taken into police custody.

While at the police station, Ricardo allegedly grabbed the pistol of a policeman shooting a cop in the process.

However, the injured police man was able to recover the gun and shoot the suspect dead.

According to police sources, Nuñez was a vendor at the Danao City market while he was finishing his criminology course. (Rey Tutas)
